ABOUT THE FILM
One Last Farm is a short documentary about Bristol’s last working farm and its fight to survive.
Yew Tree Farm means everything to third-generation farmer Catherine Withers. It is her home, her livelihood, and her community.
Besides producing locally grown, organic food, the farm’s grasslands and ancient hedgerows serve as a habitat for diverse wildlife.
However, this ecological treasure faces pressure from a growing urban population and a cemetery expansion.
One Last Farm follows Catherine’s journey over the course of a year as she fights to protect her nature-friendly farm from development.
Catherine’s story raises urgent questions about how we value land, where our food comes from, and what is lost when small family farms disappear.

NIKKI DODD
Nikki Dodd is a documentary cinematographer and filmmaker drawn to stories about the natural world. With ten years of experience in the film industry, she has worked on features and series for Netflix, PBS, BBC, VICE, and The New Yorker. Her work spans wildlife and character-driven storytelling, from intimate solo shoots to large-scale productions. Alongside her cinematography, Nikki has directed and produced short documentaries, including One Last Farm, which won Best Documentary at the 2025 BAFTA Student Awards. She is dedicated to creating stories that deepen our understanding of wildlife, nature, and our place within an interconnected world.
THE MISSION
PROTECTING NATURE-FRIENDLY FARMS
One Last Farm champions the protection of small, nature-friendly farms at the edges of our growing cities. Farms like Yew Tree Farm do far more than produce local food: their grasslands, hedgerows, and carefully managed soils provide essential habitats for wildlife, strengthen communities, and keep people connected to the land around them.
As urban development places increasing pressure on green spaces, the film asks us to reconsider how land is valued and what is at stake when family farms disappear. By sharing Catherine Withers’ fight to protect Bristol’s last working farm, One Last Farm advocates for a future in which food production, biodiversity, and community can thrive together.
IMPACT

the Royal Television Society, and international film festivals has helped carry the story of Yew Tree Farm far beyond Bristol, showing how one local struggle reflects a global challenge.
By inviting audiences to see farming, conservation, and community as interconnected, One Last Farm encourages people to question how decisions about land are made and whose voices are included.
The film is a call to recognise the true value of farms like Yew Tree Farm — and to take action before these irreplaceable places are lost.
